Eventology 2010 - Day 2 Recap

I was extremely anxious for day 2 of Eventology because 3 ladies that I respect so much in the wedding industry were presenting; Sasha Souza, Terrica Skaggs & Lara Casey.

Sasha Souza - presented The Art of Wedding Design & it was a presentation full of beautiful design eye candy. The presentation for me was so timely for the direction that my company is going with event styling. I took so many useful tips away from the presentation. Sasha also shared with us her heart and passion in speaking to us about Wish Upon a Wedding. Wish Upon a Wedding is a wish granting organization the provides weddings to terminally ill individuals regardless of sexual orientation. There are chapters forming in many of the major metropolitan cities & states. I look forward to becoming involved with the Tennessee Chapter!

Terrica Skaggs - presented Geek is Chic: Tech Tools for your Wedding Business. Terrica presented ways to work smarter & not harder with your wedding business. Incorporating technology into your every day work schedule, client scheduling & meeting presentations, client billing & payments, virtual office recommendations & blogging tools.

Talk about a wealth of information, this presentation rocked my world because I am always looking for ways to work smarter through technology for sure! I had the opportunity to take Terrica's Google Apps Webinar last year and it really did change the way that I do business. I have a running joke that "Google is my pimp" because of all the tips that I learned from her webinar on the tools available through Google apps. If you are looking for ways to incorporate more technology into your business this is definitely the lady to help!

Lara Casey: Building Your Team - Lara shared the importance of building a team & adding value to the team with various assessment tools. We took the Myers Briggs test which is used by many major corporations in personality assessments for their employees. I loved the information on internship compensation & also employees vs. independent contractors. My major take away was "Do not hire when you need someone, hire when you have a strategy & time to do it right."
