Alice in Wonderland - Photo Shoot Recap

As a wedding planner & event stylist I take inspiration from so many things. Movies, books, a trip to Goodwill {aka the GDubb}, or the latest issue of Vogue. This Alice in Wonderland inspired shoot came about simply by me tweeting in sheer excitement of my love for the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland eye shadow palette after a girls night with friends at Sephora! The colors in the now sold out palette were bright, bold & fabulous! Kristyn Hogan responded to my tweet & said "how fun it would be to do a Alice in Wonderland inspired bridal shoot". That was pretty much all I needed to start my creative juices flowing....

I feel so blessed to be in Nashville and have such an amazing group of talented wedding professionals that are always willing to partner on creative shoots! Kristyn Hogan of course was the photographer for the shoot & along with her supportive hubby Matt. They really work great together which is a huge plus for Nashville Brides as well! Kristyn really has a great eye for details & captured just the look I was going for with the images.

As I planned out this shoot, I took the planning process in levels. I knew that I had to have a couture gown, amazing florals & it was my mission to find the hat worn by the Mad Hatter for the "wow factor".

The Bride Room of Nashville, wow what can I say about those lovely ladies!! When I approached them about the concept & my vision Stephanie & Charlotte were immediately on board. {insert happy dance here} Not only were they on board & so supportive but they offered an amazing Monique Lhuillier gown & beautiful jewelry. Not to mention a referral for our amazing model Betsey Boyer Jones! Betsy was such a pro & a beautiful woman both inside & out. Look for her to do great things in the future....she has such strong passion & vision.

Thats 1 thing I could check off my list....Couture gown.....Check!

Hillary of Brocade Designs styled the stunning florals for the shoot. As always she knocked it out the park! I went to view the Tim Burton movie to get details that popped as did Hillary. We did not view the movie at the same time, however when we chatted about details we totally had similar mental notes. The detail that just blew me away when I saw the bouquets was the red rose bouquet with peacock feathers. It was inspired by Cheshire...the cat in the movie!! Looooove it!!

2nd must have checked off the list...Amazing florals....Check!

The final detail that made the shoot come to life was the Mad Hatter inspired hat...I found it on Ebay! I could not wait for this baby to arrive at my doorstep! With a little TLC of shaping the hat for about 48 hours it was perfect. I replaced the paper feather that was attached with a peacock & 1 stalk of wheat. Brides don't under estimate Ebay when looking for specific themed detail items.

3rd and final major detail.....Mad Hatter Hat....Check!

Centennial Park in downtown Nashville was the location for the shoot & we could not have asked for a better location! The day of the shoot the park was buzzing with family photo shoots, proms & bridal portraits. We had an audience from start to finish which was really cool, however when I placed the hat on Betsy, needless to say a beautiful lady, stunning bridal gown, in a huge top hat immediately drew attention & "paparazzi". Lets just say that people lurk in the trees & bushes with cameras.....

Special thank you to Nyke of Xclusive Skin for doing a great job on makeup, did you happen to notice the pink color in the lower lash line?...Ahhh-mazing! Ashlee Sexton of Eye Candy Salon for hair styling!
