I had the pleasure of offering my Bridal Styling expertise last night for VIP night for the first time with BABC & I must say that the designer wedding gown selection did not disappointment!  There were designers such as Anne Barge, Pronovias & Lazaro just to name a few!

If I can offer any advise to the brides attending the show today in Nashville it would be the following:

1.  Arrive early

2.  Wear comfortable shoes & clothes that are easy to get in & out of.  ie., button down shirt, cardigan + tank and jeans & slip in shoes.

3.  Be open minded when attending since it is a Charity Wedding Dress Sale.  It can get pretty interesting in the "Fitting Room Area"!  Come with a smile but a "low key" game face on!  LOL...No for real!

4.  Come with a plan & dresses that you have in mind, however don't limit yourself to trying new things!

5. Bring a couple of family & friends however please remember they will have their opinion of what they want you to look like on "Your Wedding Day" Keep that in mind however don't let their decision sway you from "Saying Yes to the Dress" if you have truly fallen in love with a dress!

6.  Its a celebration....You Are Engaged!  Have Fun, Enjoy the Experience & Dance, Dance, Dance!  (You will understand that one when you arrive)

If you Say Yes to Your Dress while you are at the show today, be sure to use the Hashtag #BABCTour or #BABC on Instagram & Twitter,  I would love to see your wedding dress!!

Cheers ladies & congrats on your engagement!!!

Bridal Style: The Old Hollywood Collection by Tieks

As a bridal stylist I am 100% in favor of a fabulous shoe on the wedding day.  However as a realist and also as someone that believes in podiatry/foot health I know that a lot of those fabulous shoes are not always comfortable.  With that said I also advise bridal style clients to think about selecting a comfortable yet stylish shoe for their wedding reception so that they can dance the night away without having foot pain.

So naturally when I saw the Old Hollywood Collection by Tieks I just had to share it here on the blog!  I love everything that sparkles and with colors such as Golden Glitz, Rose Gold Glam & Silver Screen your feet are sure to sparkle but also be super comfortable for hours of dancing at your wedding reception!!  Also these would make great bridesmaid gifts for your bridal party as well!

Another amazing thing that I love about the Tieks brand is their commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs throughout the world via Kiva through their Gavrieli Foundation!  For every shoe purchased Tieks will contribute to Kiva.org & that creates opportunity!   I love education & empowerment!

Brides:  Are you considering a shoe change for your wedding reception in order to be comfortable?  What shoes are you considering?  Please comment below, I would love to know!

Its always a pleasure to share when our bridal styling has been featured both online & in print.  Over the summer I had the pleasure of working with a "Dream Team" of  Nashville wedding professionals for an amazing photoshoot that is featured in the new Southern Weddings Magazine V7.
Fun and Fancy Free is the ultimate All- American summer wedding in the South, filled with a patriotic color palette & so much southern style.

This is a peek of the editorial shoot that was shot by Nancy Ray Photography at Cedarwood Weddings here in Nashville.  I will have full feature post coming up very soon to share all the style details from this beautiful editorial.  If you have not had the opportunity to pickup your copy of the new Southern Weddings Magazine, the beautiful glossy is available on newsstands around the South.   I finally got my hands on a copy last week and its one of the best SW magazines I have seen yet.  Its full of love and so much southern bridal inspiration...a must see for newly engaged couples!

Solange Knowles marries Alan Ferguson

If you happened to be anywhere close to the the internet or your smart phone on Sunday afternoon, I am sure you have seen at least 1 or 2 of the gorgeous images from this amazing wedding.  From the all white stylish attire to the artistic wedding images, Solange Knowles & Alan Ferguson really "married"  their personal style into their bridal style, which is exactly what you should do on your wedding day.

The rehearsal dinner: simple style for the bride & very grown man dapper from the groom.

As a bridal stylist I immediately fell in love with these stylish wedding images.  However it also confirmed the importance of working with a bridal stylist to create the perfect & cohesive bridal look for a wedding day.  Solange & Alan are very artistic and their personal style shines through in every piece that they selected for their wedding day.  From the caped jumpsuit & dress to his gold capped shoes this was their signature style.

In working with brides selecting their bridal style can be daunting especially if their personal style has yet to be identified.  You want to look like yourself on your wedding day, just a more glamorous version.  If your daily style going to school or work is not frilly and girly than by all means you don't have to select a princess style bridal gown (because of tradition)  unless you want to look like a princess on your wedding day.  Brides can sometimes become overwhelmed when looking for their wedding dress with friends and family because everyone has their opinion on how they want the bride to look on her wedding day.

Working with a bridal stylist and going through a thorough style questionnaire discussing your personal style can make shopping for a dress less stressful.  A bridal stylist will take the information from the questionnaire and schedule bridal appointments for you  as well as pull dresses for you to try on upon your arrival for your appointment.  This will set the tone for your day in a bridal salon and it will sometimes eliminate the opinion of "everyone" selecting the dress they want you to wear.  After all this is your wedding day & you and your groom have to happy but most importantly comfortable as well as confident.
Your bridal style should complement your overall theme and aesthetic of your wedding from the tuxedos to the reception decor & the grande exit.

There is more to bridal style than just getting a dress & selecting jewelry.  Your overall look should tell a story and it will be immediately received by all those in attendance when you work with the bridal stylist.  A bridal stylist will work cohesively with your wedding planner and event designer to ensure special details at your wedding or reception can be incorporated into your bridal stylist.

Jumpsuit by Stephane Rolland & the Groom wore Lanvin

The couple biked to their wedding ceremony location...So dope!

In hiring a bridal stylist for your wedding they can also style your bridal party as well as parents for the wedding day.  Again the styles should complement the overall wedding aesthetic and tell a story.  Bridal stylist can schedule tuxedo fittings, personal shop for flower girl dresses, Mother of the Bride & Groom dresses to recommending your wedding day hair & makeup artist (Glam Team).
On the day of the wedding your Bridal Stylist will be onsite to assist you in getting dressed, bustling your gown before the wedding reception,  assisting in a 2nd dress change (if you have one) ensuring your glam team is on time & in place to start hair & makeup as well as working with the grooms.  Your bridal stylist should be in communication with your wedding planner and provide a bridal style timeline as well.

This takes the stress of the wedding planner because that's honestly not their job, to style you for the wedding. when they can be focusing on other timeline & design opportunities prior to the wedding ceremony or reception.  Can it be done, Yes because I have worn both hats, however if you have the opportunity to retain a bridal stylist I would highly recommend incorporating it into your wedding budget. Give yourself the peace of mind in having a style professional take care of this aspect of your wedding style.

A bridal stylist can style you for your engagement photos as well as shop for and with you for your bridal showers, bachelorette party & honeymoon looks!  The possibilities are endless.....

Dress designer:  Humberto Leon of Kenzo
Bracelets:  Jill for Lady Grey
Shoes:  Stuart Weitzman (most comfortable shoes ever)

Overall brides can learn a lot from the Knowles-Ferguson wedding images:  (1) Incorporate your personal style & personality into your wedding style.  (2) Think outside the box with your wedding images to create new traditions for your family.  (3)  Its okay to break tradition as long as it makes you happy.  (4)  Enjoy your wedding day, its all about the love you share with your fiance!

Bridal Jewelry Review - Charming Charlie RSVP Collection

As a bridal stylist I know that one of the first things a newly engaged bride will do is look for her dream wedding dress.  However what I also notice is that many times brides will overlook selecting the perfect bridal jewelry for herself  & also her bridesmaids.  I am definitely a lover of all accessories and I believe that the right accessories can complete your everyday style but also your bridal style.

Charming Charlie is one of my favorite stores for affordable jewelry & accessories.  I love that the store is color coordinated which makes it so much easier to shop and build outfits.   In select stores Charming Charlie has a bridal/special occasion section that houses their RSVP Collection.  It is full of amazing rhinestone & pearl pieces costume pieces along with special occasion clutch bags, tiara's and so much more.  I have had the pleasure of working with Charming Charlie on several editorial bridal shoots and their pieces always add an extra flair not to mention they are always on trend with what is popular.

The jewelry pieces from Charming Charlie are fashion forward pieces so if you are a bride on a budget these would definitely work for your day of the wedding jewelry but also for your bridesmaids, flower girls, mother of the bride & groom for special gifts. What is also great is that if you have a larger bridal party you should not have any trouble finding the quantities that you need.   The pieces that I will be reviewing in this post would work great for the entire bridal party.

Pearl & Rhinestone Necklace - Retail price:$20.00
It is really good quality, the necklace does have some weight to it which is always something to look for when selecting jewelry.  This would be perfect for a Classic or Princess bride.

Cluster pearl + chain stretch bracelet - Retail Price:  $15.00
I love this piece because it can be cross functional and can be worn after the wedding day. *which is always a plus*    The elastic makes it great if you have a larger wrist & it also has weight to it and the quality is amazing.

Petals Rhinestone Earrings - Retail Price: $10.00
I must say that I was pleasantly surprised when these arrived because they were much larger than I expected.  The rhinestones are very secure in the silver setting & they are for pierced ears.  Please be aware that if you or anyone in your bridal party does not have pierced ears, you can also purchased clip on converters.

Shining rhinestone stretch bracelet - Retail Price: $13.00
Very simple bracelet with just the right amount of sparkle & this could also be worn after the wedding.

Rhinestone drop necklace:  Retail Price:  $15.00
This necklace actually reminds me a Chopard Jewelry piece by its design.  Its extremely elegant in looks however I didn't really like the quality of the necklace. The larger rhinestones were not attached well, in my opinion this was my least favorite piece however its the piece that I loved the most from the website.  I did reinforce the larger rhinestones with craft glue to ensure they were secure.

Overall I would recommend Charming Charlie for brides that may be on a budget or if your are bride that wants stylish bridal accessories.  If you are a Nashville Bride, the Mall at Green Hills CC has a separate RSVP section in store which makes shopping easy and convenient.  Opulent Couturier is available for your bridal styling needs as well, be sure to visit our website if you need assistance in pulling your bridal look together!!  I would love to style you for your wedding day!!
