Bridal Fashion Week Spring 2017 | Amsale

Today wraps up the final day of New York Bridal Fashion Week for Spring 2017.  Bridal Fashion Week allows designers to showcase their new styles for the upcoming wedding season.  These gowns are currently not in stores but as a new bride this allows you to prepare for what is ahead especially if you have a 2017 wedding date!

Amsale is one of my favorite wedding designers for the bride that wants a classic style for her wedding day.  Here are a few of my favorites for Spring 2017.

In working with brides selecting their bridal style can be daunting especially if their personal style has yet to be identified.  You want to look like yourself on your wedding day, just a more glamorous version.  If your daily style of going to school or work is not frilly and girly than by all means you don't have to select a princess style bridal gown (because of tradition)  unless you want to look like a princess on your wedding day.  Brides can sometimes become overwhelmed when looking for their wedding dress with friends and family because everyone has their opinion on how they want the bride to look on her wedding day.

Its all in the details:

Working with a bridal stylist and going through a thorough style questionnaire discussing your personal style can make shopping for a dress less stressful.  A bridal stylist will take the information from the questionnaire and schedule bridal appointments for you  as well as pull dresses for you to try on upon your arrival for your appointment.  This will set the tone for your day in a bridal salon and it will sometimes eliminate the opinion of "everyone" selecting the dress they want you to wear.  After all this is your wedding day & you and your groom have to happy but most importantly comfortable as well as confident.
Your bridal style should complement your overall theme and aesthetic of your wedding from the tuxedos to the reception decor & the grande exit.

Tell a Story with your Bridal Style

There is more to bridal style than just getting a dress & selecting jewelry.  Your overall look should tell a story and it will be immediately received by all those in attendance when you work with the bridal stylist.  A bridal stylist will work cohesively with your wedding planner and event designer to ensure special details at your wedding or reception can be incorporated into your bridal stylist.

Bridal Styling for your Bridal Party:

In hiring a bridal stylist for your wedding they can also style your bridal party as well as parents for the wedding day.  Again the styles should complement the overall wedding aesthetic and tell a story.  Bridal stylist can schedule tuxedo fittings, personal shop for flower girl dresses, Mother of the Bride & Groom dresses to recommending your wedding day hair & makeup artist (Glam Team).
On the day of the wedding your Bridal Stylist will be onsite to assist you in getting dressed, bustling your gown before the wedding reception,  assisting in a 2nd dress change (if you have one) ensuring your glam team is on time & in place to start hair & makeup as well as working with the grooms.  Your bridal stylist should be in communication with your wedding planner and provide a bridal style timeline as well.

Take the Stress off of your Wedding Planner:

This takes the stress of the wedding planner because that's honestly not their job, to style you for the wedding. when they can be focusing on other timeline & design opportunities prior to the wedding ceremony or reception.  Can it be done, Yes because I have worn both hats, however if you have the opportunity to retain a bridal stylist I would highly recommend incorporating it into your wedding budget. Give yourself the peace of mind in having a style professional take care of this aspect of your wedding style.

A bridal stylist can style you for your engagement photos as well as shop for and with you for your bridal showers, bachelorette party & honeymoon style looks!  The possibilities are endless...

Bridal Style | Honeymoon travel/packing organization

Lets face it, packing for anything can be a stressful and daunting undertaking.  Couple that with packing for your honeymoon...*insert physical meltdown here*.  You are checking the weather to know exactly what types of clothes to pack, you always over pack so that means that you run into weight restrictions when flying specific airlines.  Sound familiar?

As a Bridal Stylist I work with brides & grooms on their wedding day style but I also offer a service of honeymoon styling that includes packing assistance.   This helps to eliminate that added stress of "OMG I am getting married & Oh I also have to pack" for my honeymoon to this exotic or romantic honeymoon destination.

Smart packing is the key when packing for a long honeymoon vacation.  I love to compartmentalize my suitcase when traveling because it helps to save space & also keeps things organized should you have to remove something due to weight or for TSA to check your bag.

Here are a few of my favorite things to use when packing for long trips!

I absolutely love this Underwear pouch from MochiThings.  It keeps your unmentionables in a discreet pouch that is very convenient.  So even if you did have to be searched by TSA you are not mortified that all your underwear is out in plain view &  is not being handled by a total stranger.
This pouch would also make a great bridesmaids gift as well!

Another favorite are these Travel Vinyl Bags by Mochi Things  for liquids & wet items.  Sure you could use a simple plastic bag or even a cosmetic bag  but I love the fact that it keeps liquids contained.  There is nothing worse than opening your luggage after a flight only to discover that a perfume or foundation has exploded.

These Mochi Things medium mesh travel bags make packing & organization a breeze & again its all about creating compartments in your luggage.  As a rule always remember to roll your clothes while packing because it creates more space in your luggage.

Creates a very neatly package suitcase don't you think?

My final travel/packing essential is the Longchamp Le Pliage Folding Bag.  This bag is everything when you travel.  It can serve as your carry on bag (depending on the size), once at your destination it can become your daily travel bag.  The great thing about this bag is that it can easily fold up & be stored in your luggage when not in use!  Longchamp can be purchased online & also found at your better department stores like  Nordstrom.

I am a self diagnosed makeup & "product lover" (aka Junkie) so when I received a message that I was selected to review the YSL Influenster VIP Box I was thrilled.   I received the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer & Touche Eclat Blur Profector.

The box arrived & everything was package very well.   I am a lover of great packaging and YSL always knocks it out of the park with their mirrored gold packaging.

Inside the box there was an information card sharing the featured products that I would be reviewing.  The models were absolutely gorgeous, wouldn't you agree?

The first product that I reviewed was the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer.  I have combination skin but definitely oily in my t-zone & large pores on my nose.  The blur primer is a gel-fluid consistency that claims to blur out your imperfections & also gives your skin a radiant glow.  The gel primer to me had almost a silicone feel so it's extremely smooth + it has flecks of gold shimmer.  I am use to wearing a cream primer for the most part so this was very new for me.

The blur primer applied like butter which I was pleasantly surprised at just how smooth my skin felt after application.   What I did not care for particularly was the applicator.  I applied it to the back of my hand to warm up the product & then applied it with my fingers.  I allowed the primer to set for a few minutes and applied my normal foundation & the application was smooth as well!

I wanted to put the product to the test so I did wear it on a day where I knew I would be running errands and in & out of the heat.  It stood up to everything that it claimed.  I felt like my makeup looked flawless for the entire day & I was less oily even after 5 hours.

I highly recommend this product for brides especially if you have combination/oily skin and want a flawless foundation for your wedding day.  The YSL Touche Eclat Blur Primer 1oz bottle is priced at $57.00 at Sephora and I think its worth the investment.  This would work great for a bride or just a busy professional woman that desires a flawless appearance to her foundation.

The next product I received to review was the Yves Saint Laurent  Touche Eclat Blur Perfector; Retail Price $55.00 at Sephora.com

I fell in love with the packaging for this product, its pink, gold & very shiny...something that every woman loves!  Lets be real ladies who would not like to pull out this lovely compact to refresh your face?  The blur perfector included a mirrored compact, cosmetic puff & a velvet YSL pouch to store the compact when not in use.   The overall packaging on this product definitely gets 5 stars in my opinion.....

Ok, lets talk about about the actual product.....I was extremely nervous when I opened the compact & saw a light pink "balm like" compact.  If you didn't know I am a brown girl so my first thought was "oh this is going to be interesting!"   The product claims to be a  "balm-powder" that acts like a transparent foundation & helps to minimize pores & smooths out complexion.

I personally used this product to touch-up my face after a few hours to control my shine.  My first time using the product I did not use the cosmetic puff because I didn't feel like it would work with the balm like consistency of the product.  I used a cosmetic sponge & I literally felt like I was wiping all of my makeup off with each swipe of the product.  So I wasn't feeling it at first to be completely honest.  However I tried the product for a second time & used a blotting application and it worked much better + I did not wipe off so much of my own foundation.   This is a product that you would definitely have to get use to the consistency but its a nice product.   Also being that it was a light pink color, it did come off translucent once applied to my face!

Again, as you can see the packaging is absolutely beautiful however overall I would give the YSL Touche Eclat Blur Perfector a 3.5/4.0 stars.  Its a product that you definitely have to get use to working with on the application.

However, I would recommend this to a bride for wedding day touch-ups through the day because #1 its not a powder formula so it would not appear cakey in pictures.  #2 its a balm like compact so it leaves no room for accidents in the compact breaking if you carry it in a clutch for the reception or even in the pockets of a wedding dress.  Most wedding dresses now have pockets made into them which makes it easier for brides to carry their favorite lippie or compact to refresh their face during the reception.

Have you tried any YSL cosmetic products?  Do share your favorites in the comments!!

Thank you Influenster for selecting me to review this VIP YSL Touche Eclat box & I look forward to reviewing more amazing products with my readers!
